This is a much larger lizard skin handbag from Mappin & Webb than we would normally find. It is more a flagship handbag than the smaller designs produced for the company and were sold at a much higher price point so there are less of these available. This is a lovely one in a rich deep chocolate brown which is still very glossy with little evidence of wear.
The front back and sides of the handbag are still in excellent condition but the base of the handbag does have a crease to the centre and slight loss of shine and darkening of the lizard skin caused by bad storage. Because of the crease the handbag will not stand easily without contents but when normal items are added, purse, phone, specs etc it stands alone quite easily.The brass and lizard skin clasp is gorgeous, very understated and elegant and in excellent condition. There are no nicks or scuffs to the lizard covered frame and no bashed corners so the whole of the outside is fabulous.
The inside doesn't disappoint either, it is lined in a mid tan soft suede which is clean and free of any marks or stains, looks unused. There is a zipped pocket and two slip pockets and the customary Mappin & Webb label.
A fabulous large handbag, recognisable at a glance as a high end M&W bag by the cognoscenti and of unmistakable quality in both design and materials. This is a handbag which can go anywhere, however exalted, with the knowledge that it can hold it's own with any parvenu designer brands and is an indication of someone who doesn't follow the herd. Perfect gift.
