This is the first one of these we have ever listed. It is in excellent condition and still retains it's original mirror, which is fitted into the lining, it also has a comb case. We aren't sure of the age of the bag because these were sold for many years in north African countries, particularly to tourists, so could be from any of the dates above, they were certainly still on sale in the 70s. It is lovely soft leather, pretty sure it is camel leather and not high end, probably made for tourists but nicely made with lovely touches which is why we couldn't resist it. The outside of the bag is a mid tan leather which has acquired a nice patina with some colour variation in the leather but no marks or stains. There are Egyptian symbols and images tooled into the leather. There is a little handle on top so it can be carried as a handbag instead of a clutch. The inside is clean, with no marks or stains or creasing to the leather pockets, looks quite unused. The simple little comb case (no comb) is still inside.
A dainty and 'different' little clutch bag, very reminiscent of 'Death on the Nile' and Hercule Poirot. Not high end but in excellent condition for what it is. Usually these handbags because of the porosity of the leather and the method of tanning are badly stained, or damaged from use and storage and most have lost the mirror so this is a very nice example, not perfect and pristine but lovely and very useabe. Perfect for casual wear, especially with the current vintage trend for 70s fashions but we think it is also smart enough and quirky enough to be worn with a smart outfit to add a touch of individuality.
