This is a quirky and unusual vintage clutch bag dating from the 70s. This design of bag was created because at that time, in some parts of Italy, there was an emormous problem with pick pocketing and theft of handbags by sneak thieves. So some bright spark thought that what looked like a rolled up magazine being carried would fool the thieves. We don't know whether it worked but there were lots of them made and the concept was later copied in the late 90s- 2000. This is an original from the 70s, dated on the magazine cover 1973. It is made from a rigid plastic, in the shape of a folded or rolled magazine and covered in an actual magazine cover of the day coated in clear plastic resin. It is not in pristine condition if looked at closely, there is a slight loss of surface to the odd patch (see on the main photo the patch of white on the pink print to the top right) but defects are hard to see because of the design. The plastic fastener and popper still work and the inside is still clean with no marks or stains.
A gorgeous piece of history, useable, a conversation piece and again it will fool the thieves of today. Perfect quirky accessory with any outfit!
It is 12" x 4.5" x 2.5"
