This is an eye catching large chenille carpet bag in shades of beiges and browns and taupe in a floral/striped 70s design and in rich colours. It's in a soft velour/chenille fabric and we love it. The chenille is in excellent condition, still clean and glossy with minimal agr related or use related wear. It is made by Weymouth American and has the usual WA brown silky lining, althought the actual WA round sticker is no longer attached. The lining is basically clean, not pristine, a few marks, including a water mark, nothing nasty but it has been used. The small zipped pocket with the gold edging has faded to rust colour and the gold edging cracked from age or possibly use. The handle is rigid metal and covered in a dark brown faux leather, slightly bent which gives it a quirky look. The gilt frame and fabulous big gilt chunky clasp are gorgeous with minimal age related tarnish to the edges of the frame inside not visible in use (please see photos) and one of the large chunky round balls to the clasp has faded to a silver (the one most used to push to open the bag). WA handbags have quite a following, the designs were fantastic with lots of interesting detail and they were all made from man made materials, including their leather look handbags so perfect for vegans! We've called this and similar styles a Mary Poppins bag as it's the sort of bag which looks like it should accommodate massive amounts of 'stuff', including a standard lamp! This one has a slightly more 70s floral vibe than the usual.
The handbag is lovely, it's tactile, big and bold but cute and dainty at the same time and in a very eye catching, iconic 70s rare floral/ striped design. It's of great quality and in a great size for work or for overnight/weekends and you can be sure that no one will be wearing the same! We love these bags. Perfect gift for her
