This is an adorable little crocodile skin handbag by Waldybag made in England. Judging by the design of the Waldybag logo inside the handbag and the design of the handbag itself, we think that it is one of their earlier handbags, late 40s early 50s but from the condition it could have been made last year. It is beautiful and made, as with most Waldybags, of exceptional materials. The skins to the front and back of the handbag, as well as being of excellent and supple, intact condition, have particularly attractive markings and the colour is an absolutely gorgeous rich chestnut.
There is a very chunky bulbous top bar partly covered in crocodile skin. The remainder of the gilt frame is in excellent condition and what is particularly fabulous is the Art Deco style clasp which clips over the handbag to close it. The base is in excellent condition just a slight diminution of the shine on the crocodile skin owing to being put down onto surfaces (it needs a handbag hanger!). The handle is excellent with no issues. The inside continues to delight with crocodile skin and beige pigskin. The pigskin is in beautiful clean condition with minimal loss of colour, confined mostly to the side gussets where they crease when the handbag is opened and closed. The Waldybag logo is embossed in gilt on the crocodile skin above the slip pockets. The only shame is that there is a gilt chain which would have once held a coin purse which is no longer with the handbag (we'll keep a look out for a replacement). It is a small handbag but as it's definitely a special occasion bag it will hold the essentials, keys, credit cards, lipstick...
This is a gorgeous crocodile Waldybag in a rich hestnut colour, beautifully made, very dainty and high shine crocodile skin. It is is ornate enough to put on display but when worn with a special outfit it is definitely a 'wow' handbag. It is smart enough to be worn anywhere, weddings, Christenings, garden parties and very definitely gift quality.
We really don't want to sell this one, there is just one small space left on our handbag shelf...
