This is a super handbag in rare Monitor lizard skin dating back to the 50s/60s, from high end, world renowned brand Mappin & Webb. It is in excellent condition, almost pristine but for some minor signs of use to the lining. The skins to the outside are in excellent condition, still supple and glossy and in a gorgeous buttermilk and grey colour. The clasp is dainty with little tarnish or loss of gilt. The handle is firm and strong with no wear and lined underneath in cream leather for strength. The inside of the handbag is lined in suede in pale grey. The suede is clean with no marks or stains but it is a little tired from use or age. The Mappin & Webb label is fixed to the lining above the zipped pocket.
This is a gorgeous classy looking vintage handbag, from a top end brand Mappin & Webb in a rare skin and colour. It would accessorise outfits both smart and casual and is a very versatile colour to complement most outfits, adding a pop of colour to a dark suit or dress. A classic handbag which will last another 50 years of weddings, christenings and graduations.
