A fabulous quintessentially 60s early 70s (think swinging 60s, Mary Quant, Carnaby Street, knee high white patent boots etc) this large lipstick red leather Kelly bag, (more raspberry red that orange red) in soft smooth leather and rare black leather patent detail to the front, is gorgeous. It has a dainty unusual gilt clasp and is in excellent almost pristine condition, looks quite unused and still has the original mirror unopened in its original packaging. There are a frew small dings from storage which should lessen or diappear with warmth and use. The handbag is from Debenhams, branded Debonair, the store's own brand label so probably made by a company such as Freedex. So, in summary, it's in excellent condition, almost pristine with little evidence of use, the leather is in excellent condition, just a few dings, please see photos, there is no tarnish to the clasp, still bright and shiny and the twin handles are uncreased firm and strong slightly bent from storage but will straighten when hung up. It's lined in a black watered silk effect fabric which is clean with no marks or stains (see photos). It has a slip pocket with original mirror and the Debonair brand label attached to the lining. A great size for all essentials but not too big to be dainty.
A very stylish and eye catching, quality vintage leather handbag, in a great and very sought after lipstick red colour, eminently wearable and iconic 60s with the black patent trim. It is in excellent condition, with a really attractive and unusual clasp which is still bright and shiny, with no tarnish. A real Mrs Maisel handbag with the two colours this would make a great addition to a vintage, or contemporary wardrobe, perfect to add a splash of colour to a little black suit but equally at home with bright floral frocks. Suitable to wear anywhere from Garden parties at Buckingham Palace to the smartest weddings, balls and parties.
Perfect gift for her.
