How fabulous is this handbag. It is in almost pristine condition in a very unusual design in eminently wearable colours from a high end brand, what's not to love. The outside of the handbag is almost mint condition, just one tiny nick to the frame and a slight tarnish to the gilt clasp and that's about it. The leather is smooth and supple with no dings or scratches. The inside of the handbag is clean and free of any marks or stains apart from what we believe may be the residue from a sticker which has been attached to the suede lining. We have tried to remove as much of this as possible but there is still some evidence which we think is acceptable and under the rule of diminishing returns, the effort required to continue may not yield further results and the application of solvents etc may make it worse, so we are leaving well alone. There was a fashion in the 40s -70s for ladies to put a small printed sticker(usually on gold paper) with their name, address and telephone number into their handbags. Not sure why but we have come across this quite often and it is quite charming, because with google maps we can actually see the house that the handbag came from and make guesses as to the owners lifestyle. Occasionally the address no longer exists, has been replaced by a new estate or a block of flats but more often than not, it's a smart house in a smart road and sometimes the phone number is just a few digits, the vestige of a less technological age when few people had telephones. Anyway back to the handbag. Apart from the residue, the lining is lovely with the usual Lodix arrangement of leather edged pockets, the Lodix logo with the motto 'handbags of taste' is printed in gold above the zipped pocket. The leather coin purse which is suede lined looks unused and the mirror is still in it's waxed paper sleeve. This handbag has had very little use.
A fabulous handbag, not one for every day, unless the day job involves gliding in and out of limousines to first nights, premieres, gallery openings or other esoteric pursuits which don't involve carrying masses of stuff.
