SOLD Vintage 50s classic lizard skin handbag in rare navy blue from Mappin & Webb made in England

This is a very elegant and understated classic handbag from Mappin and Webb in a dark navy blue which is much rarer to find than the more usual browns and black. It is in excellent condition we would say almost mint, the outside has no wear at all and the suede lining is clean and free marks.(The photo of the lining was too blurred so a new one will be uploaded asap). Both the front and back of the handbag have a feature pleat down the centre of the handbag. As mentioned the skins throughout the handbag,even to the base are immaculate with no signs of use. The handle is lizard skin which is lined underneath in blue leather for strength. There are no cracks or splits to the skins on the handle. The gilt clasp is an attractive simple design with only a hint of tarnish.The frame is lizard skin covered. The handbag is lined in a pale grey suede which has both a zipped pocket and a slip pocket. The Mappin and Webb label is fixed to the lining. The suede lining is not immaculate and pristine, it looks a little 'tired' but is clean and free of any marks, just the odd crease to the slip pocket.
A super handbag, from a high end collectable and world renowned brand, in a rare colour which is particularly difficult to find in such super condition. This handbag would complement any number of outfits, both formal and casual and could be worn to even the smartest gatherings, well it is Mappin & Webb.
