Vintage 70s Widegate Leather Bag, Purse, Black/Brown Patent, Unused, Lucite Top Handle in Faux Tortoiseshell, Very on Trend, Made in England

This is an absolutely super vintage leather handbag, leather purse, it's vintage 70s, unused with matching suede coin purse, it's in two tone brown black patent and brown leather, with a distinctive and very on trend faux tortoiseshell semi circular round handle. The bag is in virtually pristine condition and from a top end brand Widegate whose handbags were stocked in stores such as Harrods, Debenham and Freebody and other upmarket leather goods shops. It is in an up to the minute and very on trend design although 40 years old and as it's an item of deadstock, still has the original price label! The handle on the front of the handbag is faux tortoishell and the one on the back, (worn against the body) is leather. It is a very good size for a slim bag and in a delightful and unusual two tone colourway with very attractive brown top stitching to the brown/black patent front of the bag and two outside slip pockets lined in brown, useful for invitations letter, tissues etc. As it is unused there is very little to say about the condition apart from the fact that all aspects are almost pristine with few marks to the patent from storage, just a slight dulling of patent here and there to the back, not too noticeable ( please see photos). The fine beige suede lining and suede coin purse are clean, with just some age discolouration to the outside of the coin purse and slight tarnish to the purse frame. The Widegate label is above the zipped pocket on the lining, the slip pockets are edged in leather, always a sign of quality and finish. The zip of the zipped pocket has seized from age so the zip pocket cannot be used, shame but there it is. Original price tag inside £33.50 in 1977 which today would be £206.42!

What can we say, a 'new' vintage handbag, unused and in almost pristine condition with just some age related wear, in very rare twin colours of black and brown, from a high end brand Widegate which sold in top department stores 'back in the day'. The colours will complement most outfits and could be dressed up or down to be worn to very smart occasions ( weddings, Christenings, collecting the gong at the palace...) or more casual, point to point with a hacking jacket and boots for a day in the country, or lunch with the girls.
