This is a gorgeous vintage vanity case in shiny black patent faux leather with deep red silky lining. It is in immaculate condition, it is clean, including the lining, with virtually no marks of use or age, very rare as most have marks and scuffs to the outside as well as some staining to the inside. The lining to the case is in immaculate condition, it is lined in a striking dark scarlet silky fabric with a central zipped pocket edged in gold for a glam touch and a large ruched pocket for small items on one side with ruching below to hold larger items in place. On the opposite side are slip pockets. There is a waterproof covering to the bottom to protect the fabric which is still clear with no clouding or splits. The handles are strong and look unused. The clasp (no key) and handle fixings are in a gilt metal with no tarnish to the metal but a scratch asseen in the photos. The base is protected by four metal studs. The whole case looks unused, glamorous and gorgeous.
These cases were very popular in the 50s and 60s but fell out of fashion during the 70s and 80s. Recently this design of case has become very sought after as an overnight case (particularly since Amal Clooney was photographed sporting a red one, albeit high end designer one!) and can also be used as a stylish work bag or small briefcase. So, a great on trend statement piece which is also very elegant and stylish. Use it for overnight, for a carry on case, instead of a tote for work, or simply as a vanity case.
