This is a striking large crocodile skin leather Jackie O satchel style handbag which is in very good to excellent condition but not pristine, it has been used over the years but is in great condition for an 80 year old handbag! It is in black porosus crocodile skin which is in very good condition,minor loss of shine and to the corners but nothing of note. The handle remains firm and strong with an extra row of stiching to one side. The elegant pull down gilt clasp has minimal loss of gilt except to the underneath pin which has faded to a silver colour but the clasp itself has a little darkening through age. The inside is where the quality of the piece shows, it is lined in a soft, excellent quality mid tan suede, with numerous leather edged slip pockets, one with a popper and a zipped pocket, the insides of the pockets are lined in an oyster watered silk grosgrain, a little tired from age but with no stains. The suede on the lining does bear minor signs of use but no stains. There is no brand label but it would have been an expensive item 'back in the day'.
An elegant grown up ladylike handbag in a classic colour and timeless design. It would be perfect for any event where a smart and formal handbag is required, weddings, Ascot, Glyndebourne, Goodwood etc. It is classic and classy, we love this style of handbag. Notwithstanding the less than pristine condition (and priced accordingly) it is a vintage handbag so we think it would make a perfect gift for her.
