This is a super handbag which looks quite unused, with the lining being in pristine condition and the patent leather to the outside in a similarly unused condition. The gilt hardware to the clasp and top bar is in excellent condition with no scratches from use and virtually no tarnish from age. The handles are the only part of the handbag which is less than pristine. The edges to the handles are a little rough in places with the odd tiny scuff, they look fine but it is on close scrutiny, or when holding the handbag, that the slightly rough edges become noticeable. The handles themselves are quite stiff and semi rigid and look new with no creases from use at all. The inside of the handbag, which is lined in spotless beige suede, has one zipped pocket. There is no brand label but we think it is made in England by one of the many handbag manufacturers that existed in the UK up until the 70s when many closed as a result of cheap, imported and mass produced handbags flooding the market. It is not not high end but good quality and probably made for one of the high street stores or leather and shoe shops in the 60s.
A very elegant handbag in a rich, deep, high shine toffee colour which is quite striking and would accessorise masses of colours, it would add a lift to a little black suit or frock and could be worn year round. It is also in a very good size not too big to be dainty and not too small to be useful. Notwithstanding the handles it would make a lovely gift, Well it is vintage...
It is 11" x 6" x 4"
