This is an elegant, quintessentially 60s/70s crocodile skin and leather handbag in very good to excellent condition. The front and sides are all in a delightful caramel crocodile skin which is slightly lighter in shade than it appears in the photos, the closest colour match is in the last photo of the front under the flap. The crocodile skin itself is in excellent condition with no cracking or splitting and minimal loss of shine to the surface. The gilt trim to the front is in very good condition, no tarnish but a few scratches from use and similarly the gilt chain fixings are still in shiny condition with minimal wear and no discolouration. The handbag has a replacement gilt chain which is the same shade of gilt as the front trim so looks quite original and in keeping with the style of the handbag. The leather to the back is in excellent condition but not as new, slight rubbing to corners but not too noticeable. The inside of the handbag is lined in brown and black leather, brown under the flap and black in the compartment. It is in excellent clean condition apart from a small split close to one edge of the flap which we have photographed in close up, the split has been repaired and is secure and not too noticeable but should be mentioned for completeness. The brand name is embossed in gilt on the lining and we believe it to be in Greek and from Athens but if there are any linguists out there who can confirm the language and brand we'd love to hear from you. The handbag is a great size for accommodating all essentials but small and dainty enough to be used for day or evening events.
A very elegant and dainty little crocodile handbag of the sort worn by style icon Jackie Kennedy back in the 60s, it is stylish and understated and in a great colour to accessorise any number of outfits. Notwithstanding the fact that it is not in pristine condition we think it is smart enough to be worn anywhere a classic handbag is required, weddings, the races, graduations etc. With the current revival of vintage fashions this one looks surprisingly contemporary and crocodile handbags in this style and from this era are much rarer to find than those from the 50s. In pristine condition it would be considerably more expensive so a great handbag, which looks the part, with no need to be too precious about it.
It is 8.5" x 6" x 2"
