This is a gorgeous vintage 50s, possibly 60s lipstick red faux leather dolly bag from Freedex made for Boots back in the day when Boots sold handbags (no we don't remember it either!). It's a dainty handbag, despite being a good size in a rare red faux leather with the added details of the little tabs to the front. It's in excellent condition, virtually pristine, just the odd small mark on close inspection (please see photos). It is elegant yet big enough for all essentials as the very soft faux leather and soft sides allows more capacity for your 'stuff'. It's in excellent condition throughout, minimal scuffs and a firm handle. The faux leather has hardly a scuff, even to corners and the gilt clasp is still shiny with no loss of gilt. The inside of the bag is lined in a red grosgrain fabric, with one slip pocket, it is clean with no marks or stains, it’s in lovely condition looks unused. The brand label with 'Freedex made for Boots in the Republic of Ireland' is sewn into the lining.
A gorgeous dolly bag in a great size, which is an iconic 50s/60s design and shape, so perfect for tea dances or other swing or vintage events such as Goodwood Revival (when it's held). Not high end but it punches well above its weight in the style stakes and suitable to wear with a vintage r contemporary outfit, either for smart or casual occasions. Because of the dainty shape it's also suitable to be worn as an evening bag, so an extremely versatile addition to the handbag wardrobe. It would add a pop ofcolour to any outfit. A perfect gift for her.
