This is a very attractive and striking 50s equestrian/countryside/fox hunting scarf in vibrant colours of browns, green and red on an ivory background with a pale yellow border. It is in a very fine silky fabric which we believe is not actually silk. It is in excellent condition, not quite perfect (please see photos) it is not perfectly square but the fabric is in excellent condition, with no marks or stains from age or use and with no holes or snags. The scarf has a central picture of a horse's head, with excellent graphics, surrounded by a border of swallows and trees and then half timbered thatched cottages with huntsmen, horses and hunting dogs. The outside border is in quite a vibrant pale yellow, which sets off the greens, reds and browns of the main body of the scarf beautifully. The whole scarf has feeling of brightness and energy. Like most of these scarves it was not high end at the time it was made and has done very well to last this long and in this great condition. These hunting scene scarves are becoming increasingly rare, especally in this condition. Perfect for vintage events, country fairs or hunting events, or just for a lover of horses. The graphics are excellent and the central horse looks amazing.
This scarf is a great homage to a bygone era, with a typical English countryside scene of the time, of half timbered thatched cottages, of huntsmen in their scarlet coats and with their hounds. It's also a really great scarf for anyone who just loves horses. Perfect gift for her
