This vintage Waldybag is absolutely gorgeous, an über glamorous slim and elegant clutch bag in almost pristine condition, suitable for smart occasion or evening wear. It was owned by a lady who was an atelier mannequin for Sir Norman Hartnell, world renowned couturier and designer of the wedding dress of HM the Queen, so just imagine the smart and glam events it must have attended 'back in the day'. It is long, slim and elegant with a very pretty bow shaped gilt clasp, inset with black leather, which is a real statement piece that adds to the elegance of the bag. We can imagine this clutch perfectly complementing the Dior 'new look' outfits of the age. It's made beautifully, with attention to detail, as expected of top end brand Waldybag, a brand worn by royalty, including HM the Queen, as well as having handbags permanently exhibited in the V&A in addition to the recent 'Bags Inside Out' exhibition. The clutch bag is in excellent, almost pristine condition with minimal signs of use or age, just the odd mark here or there, it has been used, but carefully and very well looked after. The lining of the bag is fabulous, it is in two side by side compartments one side lined in dark olive green silk with matching attached silk coin purse on a gilt chain and the other compartment in fuschia silk. There are four leather edged slip pockets. The Waldybag brand logo, the earliest version of the logo, is embossed in gilt on the lining.
This is a really fabulous clutch bag, über glamorous, made from top quality materials and from top end brand Waldybag. Owned and worn by a top mannequin modelling exquisite outfits, back in the days of real glamour, and for a world renowned couturier, what's not to love! A real statement piece which would add the wow factor to any outfit, for smart day or evening wear and could be worn anywhere, however smart. A fabulous vintage gift for her and we think a future heirloom.
