These are a pair of cufflinks made from genuine one shilling coins, with silvertone backs. They are in super condition and unused. They have been made with the back of one coin displayed with the three lions of England on it and the date 1955. The other cufflink has the front of a shilling coin with the image of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The backs are untarnished and unscratched. These coins were legal tender and in normal use but following UK decimalisation in 1971, shillings became 5 pence pieces and after 1990, shillings were no longer legal tender in the UK.
A smart pair of cufflinks, in pristine condition. They would make a great gift for someone who was born in 1955, an English football or rugby fan (3 lions) or for someone who would appreciate cufflinks which are a little unusual, a piece of history and something out of the ordinary. The coins are quite large at just under 1" in diameter. Perfect gift for him
