This is a fabulous and rare 60s/70s champagne cream patent leather handbag with the patent having the impression of being slightly pearlised hence the champagne look. It's in an elegant square shape with a dainty front top stitch detail and rigid handles. we believe it was made in England by Widegate, a high end English brand that was sold through upmarket department stores including Harrods. It is in almost pristine condition, looks as if rarely if ever used and has been well stored, a high end classy handbag that is gorgeous. The handles are uncreased and as new, very minor loss of colour here and there, noticeable on close inspection but the patent on both sides of the bag and the base is flawless. The elegant gilt clasp is in a dainty design and still shiny. The leather to the side gussets is also excellent with no scuffs or scratches. The pale tan suede lining is in excellent condition, it is clean with only one small marks and no stains with the slip pockets edged in matching patent leather, always a sign of quality. There is also a zipped pocket to the lining. No brand label but it's identical to previous Widegate handbags we have had.
This is a super vintage handbag, top quality in a very classic and wearable colour. It's in an elegant dainty square shape and just big enough for essentials. It is perfect for formal or smart events such as weddings, garden parties for day or evening whether contemporary or vintage. We think it would make a great addition to any wardrobe, vintage or otherwise. So snap it up as these are becoming rare to find, especially in this condition.
Perfect gift for her!
