A stunning vintage 80s large Liberty of London varuna wool wrap, shawl, scarf by sought after Liberty in vibrant yellow, reds and blues in an iconic sought after At Nouveau design with the Liberty name woven into the fabric.
It's fabulous large and in a fabulous vivid colourway which is quite rare as most seem to be more subdued ( but we love them all!). For those unfamiliar with varuna wool it is a very soft, finely woven 100% wool fabric which is lightweight and warm but doesn't crush easily, so perfect for travelling. It is no longer used, so these vintage Liberty wraps are becoming increasingly rare to find. Unfortunately, varuna wool proves delicious to moths and most examples nowadays are vintage and therefore if badly stored, have more holes than a Swiss cheese.
This is a rare example in this colourway but it does have a few holes, mostly tiny (please see photographs)and they are less noticeable when worn. We've seen these used as throws over sofas, or on display adding a stylish vintage yet contemporary twist to a room scheme. Liberty varuna wool items from the era are very sought after and collectable and at BSV we love them so try to find the best examples we can. This is in excellent condition, the wool is still crisp and vibrant with a perfect fringe and no snags at all. It's in a particularly attractive and eye catching design, doubly desirable because it's Liberty. It is in the most sought after large size and quite stunning.
This would be a very stylish wrap to wear or use as a throw and properly looked after will last another 30+ years of glamorous wear. Perfect for a gift for her.
