An adorable cute and dainty soft padded side clasp top minaudiere, or evening fitted handbag,by Werber Paris, from the 40s/50s in black padded satin with tiny embroidered flowers and gilt hardware. It is in excellent condition and very rare to find complete. There is very little wear at all, it is immaculate outside with minimal wear and no tarnish. Exquisite tiny embroidery even to the fabric handle which is uncreased and as new. A particular feature is the full width slip pocket on the outside of the bag, perfect for tickets or cards. Inside, the handbag is lined in gilt metal with compartments for cigarettes, for face powder and a lipstick holder. All have been used but are still in excellent condition and rare to find everything intact, even the original powder puff is there. The fronts to the gilt compartments are clad in a black suede like fabric with embroidery matching the exterior. There is a full with mirror, in a great useful size with minimal foxing to the mirror. Our favourite detail is the teeny tiny narrow faux tortoiseshell haircomb, we've never seen one as narrow, perfectly intact and fitting the space beneath the mirror. The embroidered compartment panels are clean with no marks or stains, the lipstick holder having a few marks to the outside and traces of lipstick once contained inside. There is no brand label but the end of the lipstick bears the initials WW Paris, so it is made in France by Werber, it is a quality item.
