This is a gorgeous rare Waldybag in black silk velvet with a gorgeous beaded decoration to the clasp and frame. It oozes old world glamour, perfect for evening or special occasions. The triangular shape of this handbag is dainty and elegant, a bit like a triangular dolly bag, with black rolled silk handles. This handbag has survived in excellent condition. The beaded lift up clasp is rare, dainty and gorgeous. The beads are attached with metal and there are no apparent missing beads to the clasp or frame. The lining slip pockets are edged in gilt, this always adds a touch of extra glamour, with minimal loss of gilt over the years. The Waldybag logo, one of the earliest designs, is embossed in gilt on the silk lining. The quality of this handbag makes it clear to see why these handbags were worn by the late Queen Elizabeth and her late sister Princess Margaret back in the 50s and 60s. Sadly there are few of them left in this condition.
This silk velvet Waldybag would make a wonderful addition to a vintage or contemporary wardrobe, it is sheer glamour and oozes class. It could be used for evening or smart formal day wear, weddings, the races, Royal Ascot. It would look super with a 'mother of the bride' outfit, something a bit different from the run of the mill 'occasion' bags. A future heirloom and a perfect gift for her.
It is 9" x 7" x 2"
