This is a very glossy crocodile handbag in a very dark brown crocodile skin. The skin is in excellent condition with no cracks or splits and an attractive three panel decorative feature to front and back. The rolled top bar is crocodile covered with gilt end finials, again the crocodile is in excellent condition with no splits.The twin handles are firm and intact with the base of the handbag protected by gilt studs.The handbag is lined in tan suede which is clean with no marks or stains, not even pen marks! There is a mark where the label was, so we cannot tell which make it is but we think it is made in England by a company called Houghton. This handbag, whilst looking lovely, does have a couple of issues.There is slIght tarnish to the gilt clasp See photos), but more extensive loss of the gilt to the frame inside the handbag which is visible when the bag is opened. (both visible in the photos below).Also the inner lining to the handbag, between the crocodile and the suede, has started to deteriorate resulting in a slightly crunchy feel when the outside of the bag is pressed. Neither of these adversely affect the look of the handbag and it's not about to fall apart any time soon.
An impressive, classy looking crocodile handbag which is priced to reflect the imperfections (which are mostly on the inside) so a great opportunity to buy a vintage crocodile handbag at a high street price. It would complement many different outfits both smart and casual and you would not have to be too precious about it.
