This is an iconic 50's clutch bag in pale pink made by the popular brand Freedex. It is not in excellent condition, we would say very good outside not so good inside. The reason it is listed is because of the shape and colour which makes it quite rare. It is also an attractive handbag and quite capacious. Those are the good points. The bag does have slight marks to the leather, as seen in the photos but these are not too obvious overall and even less obvious now that we have applied a liberal coat of matching pink polish. Underneath the flap the leather is a slightly paler pink which would have been the original colour. There is very slight loss of gilt and discolouration to the postman's lock clasp but it still works well. The lining to the handbag is clean, but it does have marks from age and use, particularly around the edges of the bag. The Freedex label confirming it is real leather and made in England is sewn onto the slip pocket. The lining is a pale watered silk effect fabric.
This is a very stylish clutch bag in an iconic shape, especially in this particular leather. It is rare in that it is a colour not often found and pale colours tend to show wear much more so than darker coloured bags so it is rare to find one in as good condition as this. We would say that this is not a bag of gift quality, mainly because of the marks to the lining rather than the outside but it would certainly pass muster for most occasions. It is a lovely vintage bag and an excellent size.
It is 13" x 5.5"
