This is a striking, large 60s/70s faux leather "chamelle' dolly bag style handbag from Essell made in England. It's in excellent seldom used condition (high days and holidays, confetti in the pocket!) and in an eye catching deep fuschia pink colour. It has a gilt frame and clasp and twin handles, all in excellent condition, no loss of shine or scratches to the gilt. It's a larger than usual dolly bag style so quite capacious. It's in excellent condition with very few marks to the faux leather or handles (please see photos). The inside is lined in an oyster coloured silky grosgrain and is clean with just the odd mark to show it has been used. The name Essel is sewn into the lining. Chamelle was the registered name for this new and innovative type of soft faux leather used instead of leather back in the 60s and 70s.
A gorgeous and eye catching vintage handbag in a gorgeous fuschia pink, from British brand Essell. It's also in a very useful large size, very capacious and would be perfect for vintage events but could also be worn for weddings and other smart events as it punches well above its weight in the style stakes.
