This handbag was bought in the 70's in East Africa and bears the label 'Gardens and Curios Kampala'. It is a very pretty handbag which is very well made and in excellent condition.The outside of the handbag is made with a single piece of crocodile in a rich brandy colour which wraps around the handbag to cover the back and front. The crocodile skin has no wear or cracking and retains it's glossy sheen.The handle is rigid and covered in crocodile skin, again in excellent condition. The handbag opens by twisting the attractive gilt catch on the front. The gussets and base of the handbag are made from a good quality chocolate brown leather, as is the inside of the flap. It is in excellent condition with just the odd marks of use on the inside of the flap, although the photos were taken before the handbag was cleaned and polished and many of those marks in the last photo, including the white one, have been removed. The actual lining of the handbag is in a sort of nylon fabric similar to umbrella fabric but thicker which is again in excellent condition and we presume wipe-able, if there are any spillages. There are numerous slip pockets edged in leather and a zip pocket for valuables.
This is a gorgeous little handbag which would look fabulous worn with a formal outfit, perfect with Autumn and Winter colours but would also perk up a Summer outfit too and is very on trend for the current 70's fashions. A much 'younger' handbag than our usual crocodile ones and rarer to find. So if you want something different...
