A beautiful vintage 80s Liberty of London varuna wool wrap/large scarf, shawl, in classic paisley design in red/blue/green/gold colourway. The wool itself and fringing are in pristine condition but with flaws. It was owned (with a few others) by an artist at the Royal Academy who used these as backdrops to her work at exhibitions, so although there are none of the dreaded moth holes there is a small approx 1" cut and a couple of small holes (pictured) to the fabric from being pinned and removed carelessly. Sacrilege we know but...
For those unfamiliar with varuna wool it is is a very fine weave wool which is lightweight yet warm and doesn't crease easily so perfect for travelling. This one is in excellent condition wool with flaws (see above) and in a classic Liberty paisley design and colourway. The edges as always with these shawls are self fringed. No label remains
A beautiful Liberty varuna wool shawl, notwithstanding the flaws. No longer made, it's exquisite fabric and classic paisley design are eminently wearable and, away from being pinned at exhibitions and away from moths, should last a lifetime. Currently enjoying a huge revival in popularity these shawls are very collectable and sought after. It's flaws are reflected in the price.
Perfect gift for her
