This is a gorgeous and very striking turtle skin handbag made by small, family owned established handbag company established in Florence Italy in 1830. It is of excellent quality and quintessentially 80s in style, think shoulder pads, big hairdos, massive earrings and Dallas (the series not the place). We love it. It is in a rich conker shade of turtle skin which is still supple, very glossy and in excellent condition. The bag is lined in leather and secured with two poppers. The optional chain folds inside the bag so it can be worn as a clutch or as a shoulder bag. The chain is intricate and decorative and although there is some diminution of gilt to this and the trim to the front of the bag it is not too noticeable and there is no discolouration or tarnish. The bag is one open space inside, the leather is clean with some general fading but no stains or marks. There is one full length zipped pocket.
A gorgeous handbag, we love it, it big, bold and a real statement handbag which could be worn for day or evening and dressed up or down. And as it's made of turtle skin it's quite rare and distinctive so no one else will have the same. Turtle skin is no longer used for handbags so those handbags and accessories that still exist should be treated as special and cared for as such.
