This is simply gorgeous. It caught our eye because it is so similar to a Mappin and Webb crocodile clutch bag we had listed, so we thought this might also be M&W however, it is made by a company called Zorbach in Frankfurt, Germany. We have not come across this brand before and cannot find out much about it but we note that vintageskins.com an American website specialising in exotic skins (hate to admit it but they have some fabulous handbags) have had Zorbach handbags on their website. Of course it is possible that the reason for the similarity is that Zorbach made items for M&W. This handbag is gorgeous (did we say that already?)it is dainty, elegant and in a very rich glossy claret colour which really stands out.
The front and back of the handbag are in crocodile and the base and side gussets are in matching claret leather. The skins are in excellent supple condition save for a few scales on the back of the handbag, at one edge (on the left of the photo of the back of the handbag below) which are slightly raised. This is not noticeable except on close scrutiny and is probably caused by the bag brushing against the body when being worn as a shoulder bag. The frame and clasp is silver coloured to match the chain and the top bar is crocodile covered. The inside of the handbag is leather lined in black which, apart from the odd scuff, is in excellent clean condition, better than it appears in the photos. The label 'Zorbach Frankfurt Am Main' is affixed to the small mirror slip pocket. The chain is easily and quickly detachable from the handbag by little spring clips which then enables the bag to be used as a clutch with just the little silver rings on top.
This is an elegant, dainty little crocodile handbag which would be perfect for weddings and other special occasions where a gorgeous little handbag is required to set off a smart outfit. Perfect to accessorise outfits from slinky little frocks, to the perfect little black suit and a very glam evening back. Perfect gift for her.
