This is a very elegant twin handled Kelly style handbag in brown crocodile skin which is in excellent condition. The twin handles are narrow crocodile in excellent firm and intact condition and just too short to be worn comfortably over the shoulder so it will have to be worn daintily over the arm. There is a crocodile covered, rolled top bar with gilt end finials and a gilt clasp in the centre, which works well and has only minor tarnishing. The gilt frame is still shiny with a small area of age related, rather than use related, tarnish on the inside which is not visible when the handbag is snapped shut (please see the last photo, the inside frame at the top). The skins on the outside are intact and still shiny with no lifting or cracking. It is an attractive design with a wide central pleat on back and front of the handbag. The base is protected by four gilt studs to avoid wear when the handbag is put down on surfaces. The lining is a pale suede in excellent clean condition with no stains, not even a pen mark. There is a zipped pocket and two slip pockets edged in brown leather. There is a label with Houghton and Co (London Ltd ), 37 Poultry London EC3 affixed above the zipped pocket.
This is a very elegant handbag which would add class to any outfit. It is suitable for a gift and is perfect to be used for high days and holidays as well as for wearing with a casual outfit and, properly looked after, should last another 50 years.
