This is a super handbag in a rare Monitor lizard skin It is in excellent condition and looks to have had little wear. The lizard skin to the outside is in a mottled monitor lizard skin with a number of shades incorporated in it making it a versatile piece.The lizard skin is in excellent condition, no drying out of the skin and no cracking or splits. There are no scratches to the surface of the skin, which remains glossy as can be seen from the photos.
It is in a classic M&W style with the front pleat and the single top handle. The handle is firm and strong, looks unused and is lined underneath in cream leather for strength. The handle itself looks a shade darker/more orange, than the skin to the sides but we think this is just a variation in skin colour as it is the original handle. The top bar is covered in cream lizard skin with a few grey/brown flecks and again is in excellent condition with just the odd age related mark. The inside is in similarly good condition, pale grey suede which is clean with no marks or stains, the edges perhaps a little dusty and tired from age. The Mappin & Webb label is attached the lining on the zipped pocket. There are two slip pockets and a lipstick pocket and the original mirror is with the handbag.
A very elegant, classic lizard skin handbag from a top end brand in excellent condition. It is in a gorgeous quite rare colour which is perfect for Spring and Summer, with the mottled effect of the monitor lizard skin making it not as precious as a plain pale cream or gold handbag in disguising any minor mishap . It is smart enough and of suitable quality to wear to all occasions, weddings, investitures,graduations...It would complement outfits in cream, taupe, grey and gold as well as darker browns and of course black. Perfect gift for her.
