This is our favourite design ( we love 'Hera' too but this just tips the balance) of vintage (or new) Liberty scarves, the iconic 'Ianthe'. The design has been so popular that for a time it was being printed onto crockery and kitchen ware ( Mason's Ironstone did a whole range), onto leather goods and gifts and currently a new range of handbags and luggage with a derivation of the print is appearing in Liberty's flagship store in London (we keep our finger on the pulse). Anyway, back to this scarf, it is lovely and in excellent, virtually pristine condition. It is clean and fresh with no stains, snags or pulled threads. The colours are still bright, although in muted and delicate colours and the hand rolled hem is still intact. The Liberty name is woven into the silk as is customary in Liberty scarves.
A gorgeous large scarf, in a rare colourway, in an iconic design and from a high end collectable brand, what's not to love. Many of these scarves are 40 or 50 years old and still as stylish and elegant today as they were then and if properly looked after, they should last another 40 years. This would be fabulous against a plain grey dress or cashmere sweater and would add a little pop of colour to a little grey suit for work or meetings.
It is 35" x35"
