This is an exquisite slim and stylish black crocodile skin handbag. It is in excellent condition and of superb quality, in a very desirable shape and size and made in England. The handles are rolled crocodile, in excellent condition and firmly attached to the handbag. The crocodile skins to the whole handbag are a mirror (or glazed) high shine finish which are supple with no signs of cracking or splitting. There are no scratches or scuffs, the worse that can be said is that to the back there is slight rubbing so the shine is not quite as pronounced as on the front. The back of the handbag has a full width slip pocket which is perfect for tickets, invitations, tissues, cards etc and actually looks quite an attractive feature so the handbag could be worn back to front if wished.
The gilt clasp has an inset of what looks like crocodile skin but on close inspection looks as though it is enamel. The clasp itself is still shiny gilt with minimal abrasions and no tarnish. The gilt frame which is visible only when the handbag is open does have the odd scratch and spot of tarnish but not enough to spoil the look of the handbag. The lining is a pale golden high quality soft suede (in a deeper shade than the photos show), with a matching suede coin purse. There are a number of scuffs and small indentations to the lining through use but it is clean with no marks or stains. There is a large zipped pocket, a mirror slip pocket, lipstick pocket and a further full width slip pocket on the opposite side containing the little suede coin purse and the fabric 'made in England' label sewn into the side. The insides of all pockets are lined in pristine grosgrain fabric in a watered silk pattern. The little suede coin purse is gorgeous, it is almost a square shape to match the handbag and unusually the inside is also suede, it is immaculate both inside and out and if you are very careful, it just fits a credit card and a few notes.
This is a gorgeous handbag, which despite not having any brand name inside, is definitely high end as evidenced by the top quality materials used, the design, attention to detail and the fact it that it is made in England. It is also quite unusual because of it's slim square shape and with the rolled handles it looks quite contemporary for a vintage handbag with almost an Italian look about it. At a glance it looks a quality handbag and could be worn absolutely anywhere. It is also a good size for essentials, phone, keys, Kindle... but perhaps not large enough for regular use owing to it's slim shape. Perfect gift for her.
