This is a beautiful dainty little Stratton powder compact covered in what we believe to be zebra skin, with original box. The compact itself is still in excellent condition but the powder puff has disintegrated from age but can easily be replaced. We think it is genuine zebra skin because of the age of the compact and the popularity of animal skin handbags and accessories from the 30s to the 70s. It is in a simple understated round shape with the gilt still being in excellent condition. There is a panel of zebra skin to the top, edged in black leather, with the underneath covered in black felt. It is a convertible compact which means it is designed to take loose powder (perfect for today's mineral powders?) but it will also take pressed powder too.
This is a lovely item tactile and very rare, it would perfectly complement any vintage handbag and would make a super gift for a vintage lover.
